Electronic Cigarettes or e-cigarettes as they are also known are devices designed to give a puff of nicotine but without the smoke of a real cigarette. They are thought by many to be a safer alternative to smoking real cigarettes, although there is no actual clinical proof of this.

They work by atomizing a small amount of liquid by either heat or ultrasonic sound waves into a mist which can then be inhaled by the user to simulate smoking, but minus the actual smoke production and all the problems that go along with it.

When a user inhales the mist produced by an Electronic Cigarettes they get a dose of nicotine which helps them control their craving for a real cigarette. For many smokers it seems to them to be a safer alternative to smoking actual cigarettes. Although they are not a smoking cessation device, many smokers say they have used them to assist them in their efforts to become tobacco free.
